This wax project was about the passage-ways and observation rooms in Turrell’s Roden crater- an extinct volcano N.E. of Flagstaff, AZĀ  which the artist has reconfigured over the years with large earth moving equipment. In the top picture a photo neg is being blocked-out where pin holes in the dark shape would interfere with the image. When ready this neg was “shot” onto a large silk-screen which can be seen in the bottom picture. The screen is being lifted off of the piece (1) after printing. The unique piece was worked and re-worked several times before being approved by Jim.
